Welcoming Autumn Anew, Every Year!

Isn't it wonderful that we all have our own way of welcoming each Season in our homes and in our hearts?! I love that! Whether it be through some special decor project, a recipe that you've been waiting for the cooler weather to make, or as simple as getting your favorite sweater or fuzzy slippers out. We all(I am speaking in general, of course)  do or have something that speaks "AUTUMN" or "Fall", "Summer" or "Spring', "Winter" into existence for us at our homes and in our hearts.

This year, as most of you know, I find Autumn coming while I am in between homes. One that has sold, and I have not yet discovered the new one that God has waiting for me. That doesn't mean, by any stretch of the imagination, that I am not rejoicing over the arrival of Autumn! Quite the contrary is true, it is the changing color of each leaf,  the first few sprinkles of rain, the chill in the air and my fuzzy slippers and cozy robe that bring peace and a greater sense of home than any house could provide.

I also think that Autumn, specifically, brings a time of reflection with it, for me.  As the days cool and I am inside a bit more, I have the time to look over the past, survey it, if you will, what I like about my life and what I need to tend to more.  It's a time where I read my devotionals more intensely and pray on the words with more reflection and ownership.

In the spirit of looking back and reflection, I thought I would like to share some of the Autumn/Fall things that have brought me Joy.  For some of you, these will not be brand new and for others, you will be seeing them for the very first time.  They have ALL been shared with you from right here, on Shoestring Elegance, as I have invited you into my home and my favorite things.

Maybe this is your first year to make your own Autumn Wreath, to welcome all your friends and family into your home.... (Or, to just remind yourself to celebrate this time)my Count your Blessings Wreath was, and still is, one of my favorites. Not too difficult to do, but it brought pure joy to me and many others that happened upon my home.

Starting off first with all of the supplies that I needed and then carefully letting it come to life as I worked on it.  It is always funny to me, beginning a project and knowing exactly what I am making and during the process of the doing it becomes what it was meant to be! I Love That!

Simply attaching whatever blooms, leaves, florals, or ribbons to your grapevine wreath, with some nice and easy floral wire!

Make a Bow, Attach the message you want to share, Make a little hanger in the back and Voila! You have an Autunn/Fall Wreath!

This one, I hung, Proudly, on my front door! :)

Maybe, like me, You have a recipe that you just can't wait to bake, that has always meant Fall in your home! Like this, my Yummy Bread Pudding, that I simply must bake and have, as soon as the temps have cooled down enough to turn the oven on!

Or, One of my Family's favorites, my Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins! You can not get enough of the smell of these baking in your home! Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves,...Oh my!
A year or so ago, just as Autumn began, I was lucky enough to come across this beautiful array of Statice, so, of course, I had to make a wreath for in my home, so I could enjoy it far beyond the time their beauty would've lasted in a vase.

Last year, I strayed from my Autumn Wreath's and made this fun Autumn Bushel and then hung a Broom adorned with  Fall colors on my front door!

The possibilities, truly, are endless of what you can do, with your budget and supplies, to celebrate the Seasons into your home.

Somehow, I seem to go back to the Wreaths for my door. I love that the change of Season isn't just present in your home, but that all who pass and all who come to visit see that you are rejoicing in celebration of whatever Season it is.

And, Then, Of course, to tie up all the loose ends and truly celebrate the Season, we must take time to enjoy a "Fancy" Tea with our Family and Friends!
May you all be enjoying an abundantly blessed Autumn this year, or those friends of mine from around the globe, I hope you are celebrating your Seasons, as well!
Hugs and Gratitude,
~Theresa

  4. Hey there Theresa! I love that you can find a way to celebrate the seasons during the "in between" times. I am always looking forward to what God has better for me and typically loathe the place I'm stuck living. Today I accept encouragement from you to see the beauty in the place where God has me. Ever learning and being blessed in spite of myself. :) Thanks for this post!
