Canadian Butter Tarts Recipe ~ Cooking Up Memories

Sometimes we bake for fun, most often for need, and I think, sometimes just for the comfort of an old memory.  There is a small way to keep those loved ones and times that have passed on present with us. Food and Recipes enjoyed from another time always seem to bring us back to those people and places. The familiarity brings us comfort from times gone by.

Easy Monkey Bread With Brown Sugar Sauce - (made with store-bought biscuit dough)

Good morning, friends.  It's a nice, chilly morning and what better thing to do on a chilly day than bake something yummy to share.  I shared a picture of what I was baking the other morning on Facebook and Instagram, just because I love it when something I enjoy so much turns out so pretty and tastes so yummy. I must say I was surprised at the response. I guess this recipe isn't a given for a lot of people.
It isn't much work, really. My family has made some version of his over the years, I have, just recently, realized that there is one specific way I enjoy making it at my house, that I guess is a little unique. It couldn't be better for these cold winter mornings.

This and That ~ Thursday Favorite Things (Happy Autumn/Fall)

Hi friends, welcome to this week's Thursday Favorite Things party. Are you all getting excited for this weekend's Autumnal Equinox? I, personally, can not wait! Fall is my favorite Season and I'm so excited to, hopefully, get to put a sweater on soo. So far, we are still in the 80's, here in Northern California, but I am hoping for cool mornings and rainy nights soon. Well, looks like I may have to wait a little while longer.  Usually, I like to pick a theme from your shares for my Features each week. But all provide such a wide array of talent, that this week I simply chose to feature those that caught my eye first. So here they are, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Welcome to Shoestring Elegance and the What to do Weekends Party!
Friends, Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart for all your kind words and support last week. It has been a difficult time to navigate.

It is what he always said he wanted and I am taking great comfort that my dear friend's suffering is over and he is now with our Heavenly Father. so, that's me this week.

On the other hand, you all have been crazy busy getting creating and I want to be sure and shine a light on just a few of you that made me smile and inspired me last week.
If you are new to the Party. We are so very glad you are here!  I've have been pinning away, during the week, so, Please do check out the Party Board!

The Best Roasted Butternut Squash Soup ~ Creamy and Savory

One of the things I look most forward to about Fall is the soup! Baking is wonderful, too!  There is just something truly special about making a wonderful soup, picking up french bread, or making biscuits, and inviting family to come share your table with you.
This is the time of year when we start to take stock of things and, genuinely, count our blessings. Thanksgiving right around the corner and the desire to be with family becomes more important as we realize how truly blessed we are.  So, I've been working on these images to share a recipe of mine that my family especially loves.

The Perfect Gluten Free Apple Pear Crisp

Welcome!! If you are new here, you already know how much I love to Bake.  And, usually, I love to bake the good old fashioned way with lots of flour, sugar, nuts and butter! Who doesn't?! Recently, I  have noticed that a few of my wonderful friends are completely gluten-free... One, by choice, but the other two have to be based on health issues. This presented a challenge to me because let's face it,  I have to be able to share my cooking with my friends and family! Yes, I've said it! There is absolutely NO joy, for me,  in baking my wonderful yummy recipes if I can't share it with the people I Love.
So on that note, I took it to task to come up with a great recipe to make/bake for my gluten- intolerant friends!  I looked over A LOT of Gluten-free recipes, to see how they were replacing flour, mostly.  There is actually quite a bit of information out there! But, I didn't find a recipe that I was super-excited to try. With it being summer and the wealth of fresh fruits available, I wanted to make something that would celebrate that...  I love Apple Crisp! My family has made it since I was a child. We had a Golden Delicious apple tree in our yard and made all things apple from it, every summer. But, the one thing that every person in my family still makes is a good crisp.  So I got my inspiration from there!
