Happy Spring, officially! I hope you all are enjoying these first few days of the new Season.  I’m still recovering from baking and decorating 175 cupcakes for my church! Wonderful cause. My body’s older than it used to be.  LOL

Let's Get Ready To Spring Forward!

Welcome friends!  Are you ready?! It's this weekend! We're Springing forward in the middle of an "atmospheric river" event! Supposedly, starting today and continuing through next week. You know, I still can't ever complain about the rain. First, I love it, and second, we have needed it SO BADLY for so long.   It's exciting to see our green grasses and rivers and lakes filling up again! Okay, back to today and the Thursday Favorite Things party! Always so exciting to join Katherine and all the other wonderful ladies to bring this party to you! Again, you didn't disappoint.

What We’re Eating This April!

Hello sweet friends. Welcome back to Shoestring Elegance and to the Thursday Favorite Things party!  I hope you all enjoyed a beautiful Easter weekend. I am, ecstatically, enjoying some April showers. As you may have guessed RAIN is always a good thing and a blessing here in California. I’m still working on my garden, though, albeit with my seedlings inside for now. There is something so miraculous about watching a seed sprout and grow, with the knowledge that in a few short months it will actually be providing us with wonderful, abundant food!  If you are trying your hand at gardening this year, too, I highly recommend planting some sweet snap peas from seed, they grow so quickly and beautifully, it's quite a thing of beauty to see.

Did I mention I'm Container gardening this year? If you haven't heard about it, it's easy and can be done virtually anywhere! I chose to do this method, in particular, because it saves a ton of water, you're just watering your plant and not the ground! (definitely important in drought areas) or even just due to limited space.  You can get a better idea with this pic! The ideas out there are endless!

More Incredible Spring DIY's and Inspirations

Good morning sweet friends.  What a wonderful day we had here yesterday! Rain, hail, thunder,  oh my! I loved every single minute of it!  I just love the sound of the rain falling, especially when I'm warm inside and baking.  We had just enough days of sun for me to go out and harvest some of my lemons and my neighbor's oranges.  Perfect zest for my scones.  Oh so yummy.  The days are getting longer and this weekend an hour longer still. Don't forget to turn your clocks forward! Let's celebrate what you all were sharing last week.  Here are your features.

Happy Easter week, friends. Regardless of what's going on outside our doors, the fact remains that Sunday is Easter. For me, personally, this is one of the greatest days of gratitude for my faith. For this very Sunday, we can exclaim, "Christ Is Risen, Indeed!" No virus, quarantine, or anything else can possibly change God's gift to us on this day. I pray you all are safe and sound in your homes with your loved ones and able to find some way to celebrate this day. It doesn't have to be elaborate, just sincere.

Hello, dear friends. I'm so glad you are joining me here. I pray you are all safe and that this pandemic has been only an inconvenience for you and your family and nothing more.  Please join me in praying for all those impacted by these scary days.

For those who are sick, exposed and scared, those who have, sadly, lost a loved one and most of all, all of those in the healthcare field, who are taking care of our friends and family at great personal cost to themselves and their families, I am so grateful. I'm humbled, and yet grateful that I never had to deal with anything like this when I was still nursing.

Spring Inspiration

Good morning, friends. I hope you are having a wonderful week.  I don't know about you, depending on where you all live, but here in Northern California, I am seriously missing Winter! No chilly mornings or nights, no frost, no seeing your breath in front of your face, but more importantly no Rain!
